The Chronic Illness Rebel — Weekly Letter

Arthur John Rosen • Therapeutic Reflexologist & Craniosacral Therapist – I’m not a medical doctor — please read my full disclosure before acting on anything here.
I provide natural therapies that support the body’s natural healing abilities, and share what I’ve experienced and witnessed along the way.

Greetings,

You were not meant to manage your condition. You were meant to live your life. There is a difference — and it is worth living toward.

When a prominent medical specialist confirmed that my chronic Crohn’s disease was completely reversed and i could stop taking As, it wasn’t just a medical milestone; it was my second major victory over a life-altering illness. Years earlier, at age 41, I had already navigated the devastating experience of losing my right eye to cancer.

When you face health challenges of that magnitude, it is heartbreakingly easy to find yourself trapped with problems you don’t want. You live with unpredictable physical pain, chronic exhaustion, digestive disruptions, and a heavy baseline of anxiety about your body’s survival. At the exact same time, you are left chasing results you want but don’t have—like genuine health restoration, vibrant physical energy, and the absolute peace of mind that comes with a body in harmony. Instead, you are told you must simply manage your decline.

When I was diagnosed with Crohn’s disease—a chronic, painful inflammatory bowel condition—and told by top experts that there was no known cure and I would have to take heavy medications forever, my inner rebel refused to accept that final narrative. Traditional medicine saved my life when I battled cancer, and I hold doctors and medical specialists in the absolute highest regard. However, I realized a profound truth: while medicine is unparalleled at managing acute crises, true vitality requires us to look deeper at how the whole system functions.

As a former Chartered Accountant, I began looking at my health through the lens of a biological ledger. Your body cannot run an energy deficit indefinitely without collapsing into illness. When we suffer from persistent gut disorders or intense fatigue, the mainstream approach often focuses strictly on treating the single “squeaking wheel.” But if one wheel is squeaking, it is highly likely that the entire system needs lubrication.

I managed to reverse my Crohn’s disease by radically shifting my lifestyle and turning to therapies that address the whole person—mind, body, and emotions. I documented this entire transformative journey in my Amazon book, How to Be Free of IBD, which features that proud gold banner on the cover: Revised and Expanded Edition: Double Victories Over Cancer and Crohn’s.

The Gentle Pivot to Lasting Balance

The cornerstone of maintaining this profound, lasting equilibrium is Therapeutic reflexology and Craniosacral Therapy (CST). (I offer both), skeptics often look at the exceptionally light, non-invasive touch of CST and ask, “How can something so gentle resolve a severe, deep-seated physical issue?”

The answer lies in the central nervous system

When your body has been battered by severe trauma, major surgeries, or years of chronic medical stress, your nervous system locks into a defensive, high-alert state. Your internal server is jammed, making it impossible for natural cellular healing and digestion to take place effectively.

The Possibility of Inbuilt Restoration

What if there is a real possibility that your body can learn to heal itself from within? What if the code to unlocking your wellness is already inside you?

Craniosacral Therapy opens up that very possibility

It does not mechanically force your body to change. Instead, by listening to the subtle fluid rhythm surrounding your brain and spinal cord, a practitioner applies precise, gentle touch to communicate safety directly to your deep physiology. It gives your over-taxed system the exact “password” it needs to power down, release deeply held trauma patterns, and switch its natural self-healing capabilities back on.
If you have been told that you simply have to manage your suffering, I want to offer you a different perspective. Your chronic symptoms are not a sign that your body is failing you; they are a message that your system is running on empty.

True healing is a collaborative process that respects your body’s innate intelligence.

The universe doesn’t just reward hard work; it rewards the audacity to believe you can heal. Remember: “By the yard it’s hard, by the inch it’s a cinch.” I am living proof that you can walk away from a history of chronic illness and step boldly into a future of genuine health, vitality, and peace of mind one small step at a time.

Small Shifts, Big Results:

Doing What You Don’t Feel Like Doing Will Transform Your Health And Your Life
This week, your small shift is to cultivate a 30-second pocket of physical “System Peace” specifically for your digestive tract right before eating, switching your nervous system out of an over-stressed loop:
Remove the digital static: Turn off the television and place your smartphone face down. Your brain cannot coordinate smooth digestion if it is actively computing external data or stress.
Pause before the fork: Sit quietly before your meal for 10 seconds without lifting an utensil. Look closely at your food, take in the aroma, and allow your mouth to water, which naturally signals your stomach to begin manufacturing its own digestive enzymes.
Chew unhurriedly: Deliberately slow down your first three bites of food, focusing completely on the physical texture, showing your deep anatomy that it is entirely safe to relax and absorb nourishment.

I’m honoured that you read this. Whatever you’re working towards, I’m rooting for you, but more importantly, make sure you’re rooting for yourself.
