Greetings,

You were not meant to manage your condition. You were meant to live your life. There is a difference — and it is worth living toward.

Why Are You Anxious? Your Body May Already Know

Fear can turn up uninvited — no danger in the room, nothing actually wrong, and yet there it is. Most of us know this feeling well. I want to tell you why I’ve stopped treating it as a glitch, and started treating it as something worth listening to properly.

I, recently, heard someone describe anxiety in a way that stayed with me: The sensation of fear, without the actual presence of anything to fear. Your brain, mind, and body are built for balance — homeostasis. They’re not supposed to tip out of it for no reason. When they do, there’s usually a reason underneath, and the discomfort is often the system’s way of asking you to go looking for it.

What the Signal Might Actually Be

One idea I find useful: our minds don’t like unresolved things. When something difficult happens and isn’t fully processed, it tends to sit there as a kind of open loop, and the mind keeps quietly trying to close it — sometimes years later, in situations that have nothing obviously to do with the original event.

Every emotion, in this view, is really a call to action of some kind. Fear and anger both exist to make you do something. So if a feeling shows up strongly around a memory from five or ten years ago, that’s worth noticing — not as a flaw, but as your mind still trying to finish something it never got to close properly at the time.

This Is Familiar Ground for Me

This lines up closely with what I already understood about the gut and the vagus nerve — the nerve that runs a direct line between your gut and your brain, carrying signals back and forth every minute of the day, without conscious thought, like breathing, heart rate and digestion.

As a Therapeutic reflexologist and Craniosacral therapist, I know our bodies and minds don’t just misbehave at random. They are always trying to tell us something. Whether you are dealing with anxiety or a gut issue, the most important question to ask is the one that changed everything for me: What is actually causing this?

Small Shifts, Big Results

For the next three days, when a flash of anxiety or fear shows up without an obvious present cause, simply notice it without trying to fix it. Ask yourself, gently: what is this actually calling me to pay attention to? You don’t need the answer yet. Just ask.

I’m honoured that you read this. Whatever you’re working towards, I’m rooting for you, but more importantly, make sure you’re rooting for yourself.
