Arthur John Rosen • Therapeutic Reflexologist & Craniosacral Therapist – I’m not a medical doctor — please read my full disclosure before acting on anything here.

I provide natural therapies that support the body’s natural healing abilities, and share what I’ve experienced and witnessed along the way.

Greetings,

When we see something extraordinary, calling it “talent” we can sometimes dismiss the quiet years of practice, discipline, and failure that led to it. A 39-year-old outlasting an opponent fourteen years younger, over five sets and more than five hours, still finding the speed and the shots late into the match. It looks like a gift. This is for you. It’s also for anyone who has ever doubted the wisdom gained from lived experience.

This week at Wimbledon, Novak Djokovic beat Felix Auger-Aliassime in a five-set quarter-final that ran past five hours. He is 39. Britain’s Davis Cup captain, Leon Smith, said it plainly afterward: “the amount of work that we don’t see must be astonishing”.

That sentence is the whole post. Nobody in that stadium saw the years of conditioning, recovery, and unglamorous daily maintenance that made those five hours possible. They saw the sliding, the drop shots, the second serve still landing at 122 miles an hour in the fifth set. What they didn’t see was everything that had to happen, invisibly, for decades, to make that visible.

This mindset belongs to no single person. It belongs to those who show up, at any age, even with health setbacks, simply because the work itself is a vital expression of who they are. “I do this work, because I love helping people who are struggling with their health”. That means still choosing to work, build a Craniosacral therapy and Therapeutic reflexology practice, write, and show up for water aerobics several times a week to keep fit. It isn’t a gift, though. It’s the same thing Djokovic’s coach was describing — years of unseen, unglamorous discipline that nobody claps for, because nobody sees it happen.

This is also, I think, the most misunderstood part of what I do with clients, who are suffering with persistent health disorders that impact their everyday lives. A Craniosacral session or a Reflexology treatment looks, from the outside, like very little is happening. Someone sitting/lying still. Feet, body and emotions being worked gently. No visible effort. But the nervous system underneath is doing real work — shifting out of a defended, stressed state and into the state where digestion, repair, and rest can actually happen. The visible hour is the tip of it. The real work is what the body then goes on doing, quietly, for days afterward, the same way Djokovic’s five hours were the tip of years nobody watched. From my personal experience, a package of Craniosacral therapy/Therapeutic reflexology  and maximizing your lifestyle choices creates the ultimate possibility of overcoming any persistent health challenge.

This is the same idea underneath the difference between remission and healing. Remission is often just the visible symptom going quiet, with none of the invisible terrain-work behind it. Healing is what happens when the terrain itself — the years of maintenance nobody sees — actually changes.

Try This for Three Days

For the next three days, notice one piece of invisible maintenance you’re already doing for your own health — a walk, a stretch, an early night, a moment of quiet. Don’t add anything new. Just notice it, and give yourself credit for the work nobody’s watching.
