Arthur John Rosen • Therapeutic Reflexologist & Craniosacral Therapist – I’m not a medical doctor — please read my full disclosure before acting on anything here.

I provide natural therapies that support the body’s natural healing abilities, and share what I’ve experienced and witnessed along the way.

Greetings,

If you have ever sat in a waiting room and wondered what it would feel like to be truly seen — not just examined, not just processed, but actually seen — this is for you.

You know the feeling you’re hoping for. You want to walk into a room and matter as the person in front of you, not as a name on a list. You want someone who notices, listens and cares. And you want to leave feeling better than when you arrived. That’s the whole thing.

Twenty Years On, and I Still Want to Be There

I’ve been doing this work — it’s not really work, because I love helping people with their nagging health concerns — for more than twenty years now, with one eye, since I lost the other to melanoma in 1981. Every time someone reaches out for support, it is a beautiful reminder of why I do this. My heart instantly tells me I am right where I belong. Connecting with you all and making a difference is the most rewarding part of this journey.

Something happens when I’m at the therapy table that doesn’t happen anywhere else in my week. The tedium I’d feel doing almost anything purely for myself disappears the moment it’s in service of the person in front of me. I’ve come to think that’s not a coincidence — it’s the whole point.

An Old Teaching, Freshly Understood

I heard someone repeat a teaching recently, credited to Rabbi Manis Friedman, that has stayed with me: that we are, at our core, built to give rather than to keep for ourselves — and that effort spent purely on our own behalf tends to feel heavy, while the same effort spent for someone else tends to feel light, even joyful.

It matched something I’d felt for years without ever naming it. Retraining at 63, as a Therapeutic Reflexologist, after a career as a Chartered Accountant, wasn’t tedious the way I expected hard things to be. Neither was retraining again, immediately after Reflexology, with one eye, to study Craniosacral Therapy. Both should have felt like burdens. Instead they felt like the lightest work I’ve ever done — because they were really a joy for me.

Remission Happens to You. Healing Happens With You.

Here’s what I keep coming back to: I’m not interested in quietening a symptom and calling it a win. I want to understand why it’s there in the first place.

I’ve written before about the difference between remission and healing, from my personal experience — that remission is symptoms quietening while the underlying cause stays untouched, and healing is what happens when that cause is actually addressed.

I think there’s a version of that same distinction on my side of the table too. Remission is something done to a patient. Healing tends to happen with one — in the presence of someone who is fully there.

What Twenty Years Have Taught Me

What twenty years at this table have taught me is that the body is remarkably good at restoring itself when it’s given the chance. My own experience — reversing a gut condition after being told “We don’t know what causes Crohn’s. There is no cure. You just have to live with it.” — is the clearest proof I have of that, and it’s the reason I do this work. Sometimes all a body needs is someone willing to listen carefully enough to hear what it’s actually saying.

A Three-Day Challenge

For the next three days, run a small experiment. Do one thing purely for yourself — even something small. Then do one thing purely for someone else — a phone call, a favour, a meal cooked for another. Notice which one drains you, and which one, however tiring, leaves you lighter. See what that tells you about where your own energy actually comes from.

If you’ve ever wondered why I’m still doing this, with one eye, more than twenty years in — that’s the honest answer. It was never really about me.

Whatever you’re working towards, I’m rooting for you, but more importantly, make sure you’re rooting for yourself!
