Is Your Workplace Somewhere Employees Want to Stay?

There are organisations that talk a lot about the customer and then completely neglect the people who deal with the customer. They may even think they’re doing this, when they’re not and employees recognise this. Stressed and  unhealthy employees are less likely to volunteer good customer service.

Why is Looking After Your Employees so Important?

We have all dealt with employees who don’t care about their jobs. We feel feel like the employee  is doing us a favour in serving us and doesn’t care a hoot about us or our problems. The result? We don’t go back to organisations where we have been treated badly and we tell 10 friends about our poor experience. (That’s what research shows).

Nearly 40% of Adults Suffer From a Gastrointestinal Problem. Nearly 40% of Adults Suffer From a Functional  Gastrointestinal Disorder (hcplive.com)

Will those 40% gut sufferers be productive at work?………. Even if they want to.

And what about the impact of bad nutrition, poor sleep, lack of exercise, anger, fear and uncertainty on productivity?

Employees who feel unappreciated and overstressed  will leave to look for a more empathetic organisation. When they leave, the employer can lose a valuable employee as well as the time and cost spent training that employee and also the time and cost in training a replacement. And how long does it take for the replacement to be productive?  In contrast, employees who stay with the business have a wealth of knowledge about your company and your industry and they can use this to great effect in their interaction with your customers.

What’s more, employers have to absorb the hidden unplanned, costs of absenteeism and presenteeism, which costs are not reflected in the financial statements.

What dose success in business look like?

Whatever your answer to this question, one constant holds true – to achieve improved performance, efficiency, profit, and sustained growth require healthy, fit people, whether they are at work or working remotely. This is more important than ever if you want to protect the future of your organisation’s business.

“Success in business is all about people — take care of them and they’ll take care of business. It’s that simple,” Richard Branson.
